Jenny has been at BUNS for 20 years and has a wealth of experience. She is fully qualified, with a B.A. degree and a B.Ed in the area of Early Childhood Education and has an additional diploma in Remedial Education but she brings a wealth of experience and wisdom to her position. Her passion in life is children so she is well positioned to fulfill that at BUNS. Jenny loves the school and often says she wishes she could take all the children home as her own!

Linda started at BUNS in 2005 so is very much part of the school family. She is a real “jack” of all trades and can be found doing any number of jobs (wherever she is required!). She is our School Secretary and so is the first person you meet when you arrive at BUNS; she also does all our accounts and day to day “money transactions”! Linda loves the little children and her office is often crowded by littlies asking for sweeties or stickers!

Helen started at BUNS as a young teacher in 2000 and taught here for two years before leaving to start a family. She then returned in January 2008 and has been teaching the little Bees ever since. She is a fully qualified pre-primary teacher with a solid J.C.E. foundation course behind her, and is well-loved by both children and parents. She has much experience of this age group and just loves her little children and is never happier than when she is sitting on the carpet surrounded by all her little friends!

Veronica moved to BUNS in 2013 from Rainbow Babies and Kids where she had been since its inception. She has done many and varied courses in the area of Early Childhood Development and has just completed a further certificate through Unisa on children with special needs. She has worked a lot with special needs children within a mainstream class and is very insightful and empathetic in the classroom. She is a much-loved member of the buns family.

Di was forced to leave her previous nursery school as the new Gautrain was being built right over it! Their loss was our gain as she then applied to BUNSand started here in January 2007. Di qualified in the days when you still got a wonderful teacher’s training from Training Colleges and she trained at the Johannesburg College of Education. Di is a very well-experienced, very creative and involved teacher who enjoys every moment in the classroom with the children.

Shanna only recently joined BUNS (in May 2017) when of our long-standing teachers emigrated to Ireland. Shanna has been a welcome addition to our wonderful staff, moving here from a well-known Johannesburg Nursery School and bringing with her some lovely fresh ideas and lots of enthusiasm. She, too, is fully qualified, having received a Diploma in Pre-School Education and Foundation phase at the Embury Education and Training Centre in Port Elizabeth – a wonderful institution! Shanna has two young children of her own and so is well-placed to understand precisely what is involved in raising children in the 21st century. She is a very hard-working, involved and passionate teacher and the children adore her.

Rosie started at BUNS in 2008 with no formal qualifications of any kind. It quickly became apparent that she loved working with the children and in 2009, she was registered with the Professional Child Care college to do the basic childcare course. She then did a further course which covered Nursery School age children. She has proved to be an excellent Assistant Teacher and has a kind and caring nature which endears her to everyone. Her skills have grown over the years and BUNS just wouldn’t be the same without her!

Christina is quite new to BUNS, having started here in January 2015. She moved from a playgroup where she had been employed fulltime as it had closed down. She, therefore, had a lot of experience with young children and their needs. She did some training with a Child Care College and has a Certificate of Achievement in Childcare. Christina loves the children and works really well with them. She is organized and energetic and is really a part of the buns family.

Elizabeth is the longest serving member of staff, apart from the principal. She began her career at BUNS in January 2002. She also did not have any formal qualifications in the pre-primary field but it soon became apparent that she should be registered for some courses as she had a lot to offer. Elizabeth completed two courses with the Professional Childcare College and has since helped in every area of school life. She has assisted all the teachers and is now permanently stationed in the Snail Class. Elizabeth is a disciplinarian and a stickler for good manners and is very organized and reliable. She has proved to be a real asset to our little school.

Dineo started in the Flower Class in November 2015 and has been permanently with this class ever since. She had no idea what Nursery School was all about when she started here but she quickly found out and began to adapt and learn. Dineo is almost finished with her first module of training for the basic Childcare Course and then will move onto the Nursery School module. She interacts well with all the children in the playground and loves her job at BUNS.
